PORTUGAL OR ITALY FOR QATAR 2022

One big team on the European football scene will miss out on the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar afterimmediate past European champions Portugal and reigning European champions Italy were drawn in the same path in the playoffs.

Portugal and Italy are the past two winners as far as the European Championship is concerned and only one team will be at next year’s World Cup tournament on Qatari soil. Portugal were the winners of Euro 2016 after they saw off hosts France in the final thanks to the extra time strike from Eder. Italy then replaced Portugal as the European champions by winning Euro 2020 this summer thanks to the penalty shootout victory over hosts England.

CHELSEA: MOUNT TO MISS ENGLAND GAMES

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount won’t be available for the upcoming England games ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar due to his need for a dental surgery. Mount has pulled out of the England squad for the World Cup 2022 qualifying games against Albania and San Marino as a result.

Mount is one of four players who have pulled out of the England squad for the final two World Cup 2022 qualifiers in Group I of the UEFA qualifiers. The other three players are Southampton skipper James Ward-Prowse and the Manchester United duo of Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw.

BELLINGHAM, GREENWOOD DROPPED FROM ENGLAND SQUAD

The young duo of Jude Bellingham and Mason Greenwood have been dropped from the England squad ahead of the World Cup 2022 qualifiers against Hungary and Andorra later this month. The two players were major absentees from the 23-man England squad unveiled by manager Gareth Southgate ahead of the aforementioned World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

Bellingham, 18, has been in sensational form for Borussia Dortmund since he moved to the German Bundesliga outfit from English Championship team Birmingham City at the start of last season. His performances have propelled Borussia Dortmund into the top four places on the German Bundesliga table this season. In addition, he has been one of the star players for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League this season. Bellingham was in the 26-man England squad to the Euro 2020 tournament in the summer and he could not save the team from losing to Italy via penalties in the final. MOUNT RULED OUT OF CITY CLASH

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount will miss the big Premier League clash with defending champions Manchester City due to a minor injury according to manager Thomas Tuchel. The Blues boss gave an injury update on England international Mount during his pre-match chat with reporters at the club’s Cobham training ground.

QATAR 2022: ENGLAND QUALIFYING SCHEDULE REVEALED

1966 champions England are on course to qualify for the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar at the end of next year after winning their first three games in Group I of the UEFA qualification section ahead of the tournament.

The UEFA section is in round one of its qualifiers for World Cup 2022 and England can avoid round two by winning their group which has teams like Hungary, Andorra, Poland, San Marino, and Albania.

NAVAS SAYS HE WANTS TO PLAY FOR SPAIN IN QATAR

Sevilla captain and midfielder Jesus Navas has revealed that it was heartbreaking to not have been selected to represent Spain at the UEFA Euros tournament but says that he is looking forward from the experience. Navas was a star performer for Sevilla last season in the Spanish La Liga but he missed out on a call-up, as Spain head coach Luis Enrique overlooked him in his squad selection ahead of the beginning of the tournament. Speaking on his omission from the squad, Navas said that he worked very hard to earn a call-up to play for Spain at the tournament but after being overlooked, he was very unhappy because of how prepared he was.

However, he said that he believes that the decision of the coach is final and paramount and that he does not want to dwell on the past any longer. He says that he watched the entire tournament from home and was cheering the Spain team right from the comfort of his house, alongside his family. He has since revealed that after not being able to represent Spain at the Euros, he would love to participate at the World Cup next year and that he will Kee working hard to see if he can earn himself a call-up this time around

Before the Copa America tournament started, Argentina were seen as just another participant that will be in action at the 2021 FIFA World Cup tournament that is set to hold in Qatar next year. DENMARK: WORLD CUP 2022 QUALIFYING REVIEW

Denmark were the top seed when the draw for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers for the European section took place. At the end of the draw, the Danes were drawn alongside Moldova, Faroe Islands, Scotland, Austria and Israel in Group F. As at the time of the World Cup 2022 qualification draw, it was seen as a good one for Denmark and the team has backed it up with results on the pitch. Denmark are just one of few teams to record maximum points after the first three games in the qualifiers.

Apart from Denmark, Italy in Group C, the Three Lions of England in Group I and surprise package Armenia in Group J are the only teams with a perfect record in the World Cup 2022 qualifiers.

RAMOS DROPPED FROM SPAIN’S EUROS 2020 SQUAD

Real Madrid captain has been dropped from the squad that will be representing Spain at the Euros 2020. The defender will not be representing his country at a major tournament for the first time since showing up for Spain at the 2006 World Cup. Ramos had a strange season this campaign and struggled to maintain full fitness as he continued to struggle with injuries since the beginning of January.

He also missed several group training sessions with his fellow Real Madrid players and was only rushed back to feature against Chelsea in the Champions League knockout rounds. Spain’s national team manager Luis Enrique revealed that Ramos was dropped as a result of the fact that the captain was struggling with injuries and he could not regain full fitness right on time to earn a call-up.

BIG RIGHT-BACK SELECTION HEADACHE FOR SOUTHGATE

The EUROS 2021 is just around the corner and countries have already started releasing their squad’s lists ahead of the competition starting in a few weeks. The UEFA EUROS is not only a competition that every participating nation will try to win, it is also one that helps them in making their decision on player selections ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2022 which will hold next year in Qatar.

The likes of France and Belgium have already released their full squad’s list for the EUROS but other countries, including England, have not been able to make up their minds about their final lists yet.
