MBAPPE SCORES SECOND NATIONS LEAGUE GOAL

Paris Saint Germain (PSG) attacking talent Kylian Mbappe scored his second goal of the UEFA Nations League this season after he opened the scoring for France on the way to a 2-0 victory at home to Austria. France and Austria met at Stade de France, Saint-Denis on Thursday in one of the fifth set of games in Group A1. Apart from Austria and France, Croatia and Denmark are the other teams in Group A1.

Mbappe scored his first goal of this season’s Nations League campaign when he came off the bench to score the equaliser for the French team during their 1-1 draw at the home of Austria. The PSG attacker is expected to spearhead France’s quest to retain their title at the World Cup 2022 tournament on Qatari soil. Mbappe and his France teammates are the defending champions ahead of the World Cup 2022 tournament after they won the 2018 edition in Russia. France are one of the top three favourites for the World Cup 2022 tournament in Qatar alongside five-time world champions Brazil and two-time world champions Argentina. The French team emerged as champions on the World Cup stage four years thus making it a second title for the European country.

PSG attacker Mbappescored in the first meeting between France and Austria in Group A1 and he repeated the feat in the second meeting between the two countries to give France the lead after eleven second half minutes. The first half ended in a goalless draw before the deadlock was broken thanks to the solo goal from Mbappe. Nine minutes later, AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud doubled the lead for the French team thus sealing the win.

After his latest goal against Austria, Mbappebecomes the third joint leading goalscorerin League A behind the duo of Memphis Depay (Netherlands) and MichyBatshuayi (Belgium) who have three goals each.
